Ph.D. thesis: Carbon storage potential in hedge agroforestry systems

Although the potential for hedge systems to store carbon (C) is acknowledged, they have been studied less often than in-field agroforestry, and quantitative estimates of their C-storage potential remain rare, especially in European temperate areas. Overall, available studies show that soils near hedges generally have larger C stocks than those in cultivated plots, but the additional quantities stored vary greatly.

The objective of this thesis is to characterise accurately the potential additional C storage in soil and biomass in hedge agroforestry systems, in relation with the soil and climate context in temperate areas.
